A delightfully quirky, large, bay-windowed and filigree, glazed pub that offers everything from Vinyasa Body Flow to Drag Nights, with short film screenings and quiz nights in between.
Named for local legend Alfred Hitchcock’s favourite animal (joke – we know it’s for the movie based on a Daphne DuMaurier short story), The Birds also offers sports TV, described as a ‘small screen but a big atmosphere’.
If all that doesn’t get you interested, then the informal long tables with school-like chairs and a vegan-heavy menu mean that an eclectic mix of diners can enjoy a brunch, lunch, snack or evening meal with no-one losing out to a lentil stuffed mushroom.
With a beer garden, life-drawing and kids’ dance classes, you can feel it’s a pub that really loves to be at the heart of its community, or in its community’s hearts. With urban-retro styling and a sense of humour and fun, you can check out their Bottomless Brunch service (all puns, we suspect, are intended.)
