Wanstead Fish is a bit of a jewel. Opened in 2014, it was the first proper fishmongers in the High Street for two decades, and with its lean styling, blackboard of daily offerings and high quality service, it’s definitely a delight that takes customers back to the good old days.
Kevin Murphy started the business inspired by his wife Jane’s pescatarian diet. They offer more than thirty varieties of fresh fish, including the chef’s prize turbot at the pricey end. It’s a passion project for Kevin and Jane and they can also give the kind of advice about cooking, servings and choices that you don’t get at the supermarket. On top of all this customers rave about their special homemade smoked salmon, and the daily selection of fresh, delicious and healthy seafood.
